Classical Management Approach And Human Resources Management

1. Executive Summary: The purpose of this report is to highlight the benefits of two management approaches used in organizations i.e. classical management approach and human resources management approach. Both the concepts are explained in detail with their importance, implication, and drawbacks. The report then linked both the approaches with operations of the organization for which Coles, which is one of the leading retail names in Australia; its business is spread across the country. The report gives a clear picture of how Coles has used and implemented the classical as well as the human resource approach in its operations. The report started with an introduction of the company of how it has evolved from a small family owned shop to one of the market leaders of today by implementing right procedures over the time. The report then leads to the theoretical explanation of classical management approach and the factors and principles involved and the gray areas or gaps in classical management approach are also discussed. The same is then applied to Coles, and the principles that could be seen in Coles are highlighted.
